Not sure your audio
is vinyl-ready?

Tracks mastered for streaming don't translate directly to a lathe cut. Vinyl-specific mastering controls low end, manages sibilance and transients, and optimises level — making a real difference to how loud and clean your record sounds.

Cut for sound.
Not just for show.

Most lathe cutting services put the audio straight to the lathe. Diz Lathe Cuts includes vinyl pre-mastering as standard — your track is treated specifically for the cutting process before a single groove is made.

That means controlled low end, managed sibilance, correct stereo imaging, and a cut that plays loud and clean. The difference is audible — especially on dance music, where bass and headroom matter most.

The signal chain runs through professional outboard including Apogee conversion, FabFilter processing, and Ancora M/S mastering — the same tools used in professional mastering studios. Your record gets proper treatment, not a straight pass to the lathe.

Built for people who
take sound seriously.

DJs

Test unreleased tracks on a real system. Carry exclusives no one else has. One-offs from £15, no minimum order.

Producers

Hear how your mix actually sounds on vinyl before pressing plant costs are on the table. A physical reference with no commitment.

Bands & Artists

Release a short run without pressing plant minimums. Perfect for gig merch, special editions, and limited drops.

Independent Labels

Short, flexible runs up to 100 copies. No hidden fees, no minimum commitment, transparent turnaround times.

Not the right service? Lathe cutting isn't a replacement for large-scale pressing. If you need hundreds or thousands of copies, a pressing plant will serve you better — and I'm happy to point you in the right direction.

Frequently asked.

Every file gets checked before anything is cut. If there are any issues — levels too hot, side too long, frequencies that will not translate well to vinyl — I will flag it and we will work out the best approach before you pay for a cut that will not sound right. Nothing goes to the lathe without your sign-off first.
Not much. Fill in the order form, upload your track or share a download link, and I will handle the rest. I check your file, confirm the format, send an invoice, and cut it once payment is received. If anything needs clarifying I will reach out before cutting. Most first-time customers are surprised how straightforward it is.
WAV or AIFF preferred, ideally 24-bit. 16-bit is also fine. 44.1kHz or 48kHz sample rate. No MP3s, streaming rips, or clipped exports — these limit what's achievable and often cause distortion or reduced level.
Yes — vinyl-specific mastering is available as an add-on. It covers level optimisation, low-end control, sibilance management, and EQ tailored for cutting. Priced at £20 for 7″ and £25 for 10″/12″. All mastering is discussed and agreed before any work begins.
Cutting level depends on your audio's dynamics, low end, and high-frequency content. Heavily limited or brickwalled masters don't translate well to vinyl. Peaks should sit below -1 dBFS with dynamics preserved and no hard clipping. If unsure, the mastering add-on will handle this.
Yes, stereo is standard. For best results, keep bass frequencies centred — wide stereo below roughly 120Hz can cause tracking issues and limit how loud the cut can be made.
One track per side unless agreed in advance. Multiple tracks per side can be arranged — get in touch to discuss before submitting.
Yes. PETG lathe cuts play on any standard turntable. They're optimised for DJ playback and club systems. If something sounds unusual, always check on a second deck before drawing conclusions about the cut.
Sometimes — rush orders incur a 20% surcharge on the order total. Get in touch before submitting to check current availability.
No open studio visits. Collection only, by prior arrangement.

Audio guidelines.

Lathe cutting is different to digital playback and vinyl pressing. Clean, well-prepared audio makes a real difference to sound quality and achievable level.

Accepted Formats

WAV or AIFF only, ideally 24-bit. 44.1kHz or 48kHz. 16-bit acceptable. No MP3s, streaming rips, or clipped exports.

One track per side unless agreed in advance.

Running Times

Shorter sides always sound better. Longer sides require tighter groove spacing, which lowers playback level and increases distortion risk toward the inner groove.

Loudness & Dynamics

Avoid masters prepared for streaming. Heavy limiting, brickwall masters, and very hot LUFS targets don't translate to vinyl well.

  • Peaks below -1 dBFS
  • Dynamics preserved — no hard clipping
  • Vinyl responds to movement and space, not constant loudness

Low End & Stereo Image

  • Keep bass frequencies centred
  • Wide stereo below ~120Hz causes tracking issues
  • Extreme sub-bass reduces clarity and stability
  • Unsure? The mastering add-on handles low-end management

High Frequencies & Transients

  • Sharp transients and bright hi-hats can distort during cutting
  • Heavily saturated material may restrict achievable level
  • Flag bright or aggressive tracks when submitting

Revisions

  • Small runs include one initial setup and cut
  • Revisions are quoted separately
  • Ensure audio is final before submitting

Still not sure? Get in touch before submitting.
