Production begins once payment and all final, approved audio and artwork files are received — approximately 2–3 weeks from that point. Supplied audio is assessed before cutting; if anything needs attention I'll contact you before proceeding. Full terms at dizlathecuts.co.uk/terms.

Every record is individually cut in real time into a plastic blank. Lathe-cut records have their own playback characteristics and won't reproduce the digital master identically — differences in playback level, tonal balance and surface noise may be audible, particularly in quieter passages. The aim is a clean, reliable and musically faithful physical record within the limitations of the format. Full guide →

Most orders have no extra costs. If your audio hasn't been mastered for vinyl (or you're not sure), a one-off vinyl prep fee may be added to your invoice — £35. You'll always see it itemised before you pay.

Production files are submitted separately

After placing your order you will receive a DLC order reference by email. Use the upload page to send your final audio and artwork — include your name, email and order reference so your files can be matched correctly.

What happens next

Current production turnaround is approximately 2–3 weeks from payment and receipt of all final approved and accessible audio and artwork. Shipping time is additional and cannot be guaranteed once the parcel is with the carrier.

Diz Lathe Cuts operates Tuesday to Friday. Orders, updates and enquiries are handled on these days. Messages received at weekends or on Mondays will normally be answered on the next working day.

Production turnaround is approximately 2–3 weeks from payment and receipt of all final files. Shipping is additional. There are no fixed-date guarantees on any standard order — please allow for this when planning your release.

Rush production is subject to capacity and is only confirmed once explicitly accepted. When accepted, it is charged at 40% of the cutting charge, subject to a £30 minimum rush fee. It is not confirmed automatically on payment.

About your files

Files are assessed when production begins. If I spot anything that may affect the cut — heavy sibilance, distortion, clipping — I'll flag it before cutting. If a revised master is needed, this may delay the order.

Supplying your own vinyl master? Please make sure the files have been specifically prepared for vinyl cutting. A digital master is not automatically a vinyl-ready master.

If supplied audio cannot be cut and tracked reliably, production may be paused while revised files are requested. Read: Why a digital master isn't always a vinyl master →

If you purchase vinyl preparation: this covers the engineering work of optimising your file for the format. It does not guarantee a specific cutting level. If source quality limits what can be achieved, this will be discussed before the session concludes. What preparation covers →

You are responsible for checking all audio, artwork, labels and spelling before approving them as final. Once artwork or labels have been approved, later corrections may require reprinting and may incur additional costs and delays.

Changes to audio, artwork, quantities or specifications after an order is confirmed may affect the production schedule and may incur additional costs.

Larger runs may require additional production time. A schedule will be confirmed before cutting starts.

What happens after you order

File assessment — your audio is reviewed before cutting starts. If there's a problem that needs discussing, you'll hear about it before production proceeds.

Preparation — if vinyl preparation is part of your order, this is done before the first groove is cut.

Test cutting and inspection — the side is cut and physically inspected before the run begins.

Playback verification — every finished cut is played back before it leaves.

Final check and dispatch — records are inspected before packaging.

Test cut approval — 25+ copies

For runs of 25 copies or more, a single test record is cut at the planned production settings. A digital recording of that cut is sent to you before production begins. You listen, confirm you're happy, and the run proceeds. If you want adjustments, those are discussed before anything else is cut.

Confirming approval means you've heard a representative example of the planned production and are ready to proceed on that basis. It doesn't affect your rights if finished records are materially different from the approved test cut, or if there are genuine manufacturing defects.
